Spider monkeys are one of the largest monkeys in the Americas and can weigh up to 9 kg (20 lb).In spider and howler monkeys, the prehensile tail is long, making up a sizable portion of the animal’s total body weight. Capuchins, by contrast, have an unremarkable tail size; they don’t deviate very much from other non-prehensile-tailed New World monkeys in their tail proportions 5 .
